A Naming ceremony is a beautiful way to introduce a baby to family and friends whilst honouring the people around whom have been chosen to help guide, encourage and support your child through their life.
The ceremony gives you the opportunity to share your hopes, dreams, and desires for your child. It also gives friends or relatives the opportunity to confirm their involvement in the child’s upbringing whilst creating everlasting special memories with you all.
Naming ceremonies can be held for children of any age. They are also often held for welcoming adopted or step-children into the family.
As with any of my ceremonies, the child is the focus and therefore the decision on what happens during the ceremony is your choice. Each ceremony is personal and is tailored around your requests ensuring that it will be unique to you.
To enable me to do this, we will spend time together, and I will listen to our stories and experiences; How you met, why you fell in love, what you love about each other, and what your dreams and aspirations for the future are both together and as a parent. You may even decide to renew your vows at the same time, making the day even more memorable.
Be it a relaxing time in your own garden with gentle music, a motivating event in a village green with a thoughtful poem or a traditional style in a hotel with a joyful piece of music, I am here to create the perfect ceremony which you require.
I consider it my honour to be part of your child’s naming ceremony.
Additional Ideas & Inspirations
To make the Naming ceremony even more personal and unique, you can add a selection of special elements to the day.
I’ve given below, just some of the examples that can help with this: –
- A naming ribbon to be held by all of your guests during the ceremony. This is then divided as keepsakes for yourselves and your guests.
- Create a canvas where all guests may be asked to add a finger print or hand print.
- Ask guests to write a promise on a stone to be placed in a jar.
- Ask guests to write on a card which could be hung on a tree or some place special for the future.
For blended families a popular choice is a unity lantern ceremony or unity sand ceremony showing a sign of the joining of two families and the welcoming of the child.
